Seven million viewers checked in at Hotel SACHER on ZDF

Munich, 19 January 2017. After the world-wide successes Beta’s “Hotel Adlon - A Family Saga”, Viennese Grand Hotel Sacher (2xtwo hours) has opened its doors to a German audience and over seven million viewers checked in. Robert Dornhelm’s glamourous drama full of tales of doom and seduction won the prime time ratings on both nights on public broadcaster ZDF with a market share of up to 21%. The younger target group (14 – 49 years) was as well fascinated by love, secrets and treason in the early 20st century with a great participation of a 12% market share, doubling the channel’s average.

The hotelier Eduard Sacher dies and his daughter Anna Sacher takes over the management of the hotel to turn it into a glamorous hotspot for the élite of Vienna’s Golden Age.

The Sacher, one of the most famous hotels in the world, represented and still represents a place said to be the epitome of Viennese culture and lifestyle – as the grand stage for a complex and colorful social drama. The mini-series, directed by Dornhelm (“Anne Frank”, “War and Peace”) and starring Josefine Preuss (“Hotel Adlon”) and Florian Stetter (“Sophie Scholl: The Final Days”), was produced by Oliver Berben’s MOOVIE / Constantin Film and MR-Film. Beta Film holds the international rights and will present the two part TV drama at MIPTV 2017 in Cannes.
