Munich, 5 December 2019. Beta Film's comedy drama Arde Madrid is continuing its international rollout, gaining numerous awards on its way. The Movistar+ original series, which just won the Rose d'Or-Award as Best Comedy Drama this past Sunday, was recently acquired by MHZ in the US, France Televisions and HBO in Brazil. In Latin America, the show runs on Movistar+. Earlier, Beta Film sold Arde Madrid to Germany's RTL. Negotiations with partners in Russia, Eastern Europe, Portugal and Greece are ongoing.

After its tremendous ratings success in Spain, the comedy, shot in black and white, has been taking one win after the other. The eight-part series by co-creator and lead actor Paco León was honored as Best Comedy Series at the Spanish national TV awards Premios Feroz, where Inma Cuesta and Anna Castillo won as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. In France, the Festival de la Fiction La Rochelle honored it as Best European Series. Previously, Arde Madrid has received the Award for Best Ibero-American Miniseries at the Platino Awards back in May, with two additional nominations as well as winning big at the Premios Feroz 2019 (aka the "Spanish Golden Globes") with Best Supporting Actress (Anna Castillo), Best Leading Actress (Inma Cuesta) and Best Comedy Series, and three additional nominations. At the Premios Ondas in October, it received the Television Award for Best Series. Currently, Arde Madrid is leading in over-all nominations at the MiM Awards ("Iberian Emmys"), with an impressive five nods for Best Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Directior, Best Actress in a Comedy and Best Actor in a Comedy.

Paco León's and Anna R. Costa's multi-awarded period dramedy on Ava Gardner's wild days in early sixty's Madrid is to this day the most-binged series ever on Spain's Movistar+, beating out such audience hits as "Game of Thrones". Part of Beta's multi-year production and distribution deal with Movistar+, the series revolves around loyal and conservative soul Ana Mari (Inma Cuesta), who is asked by the Franco government to spy on the famous Hollywood actress Ava Gardner (Debi Mazar, "Entourage"). Yet there is a catch: Ana Mari has to pretend to be married to Ava's happy-go-lucky chauffeur Manolo (Paco León). Arde Madrid is an original series by Movistar+, produced by Andy Joke and written by Paco León and Anna R. Costa with Paco León directing as well.
