Beta secures worldwide deals for MAMMON
Munich, 24 September 2014. In the run-up to MipCom, Beta Film has secured worldwide deals for its Scandi-series Mammon. The award winning thriller from Norwegian public broadcaster NRK was picked up by Germany’s ARD Degeto with Polyband acquiring the German Home Video-rights. Further on, Beta Film sold Mammon to Austria’s ORF, in Australia and New Zealand the show was acquired by Sky (PayTV), SBS (FreeTV) and Roadshow (HV). In addition, the 6xone hour series was picked up by HOT Israel (PayTV), LRT Lithuania (FreeTV), Antena TV Bucharest (Free TV). Beta is in final negotiations for a PayTV-sale in France and has interest from many other territories. As earlier announced, Channel 4 snapped the UK rights, whereas 20th Century Fox Television optioned the US remake-rights.
The polit-thriller, created by the brother-duo Vegard and Gjermund Eriksen and directed by Cecilie Mosli, depicts the story of Peter, a journalist being drawn into a tangled web of lies and betrayal when he uncovers evidence of a financial fraud involving the country's elite. In September, Mammon won the Golden Bird Prize for Best Mini-Series at the Seoul International Drama Awards, Asia’s largest TV drama festival. Director Cecilie Mosli was awarded Best Director. Mammon ran at the Rome Fiction Festival last week and will bow at the Cologne Conference/Germany in October.
Mammon, starring Jon Øigarden, Lena Kristin Ellingsen and Nils Ole Oftebro, was produced by NRK drama.
