Beta Film’s MIPCOM-highlights “Agent Hamilton” and “The Wall – Cover Your Tracks” celebrate world premieres

Munich, 27 September 2019. With just two weeks to go until MIPCOM, Beta Film has picked up two new high-end originals from Spanish streaming platform Movistar+. The action packed thriller La Unidad (6 hours, Movistar+/Vaca/Beta)and the drama Tell Me Who I Am (9 hours, Movistar+/DLO/Beta)will behighlights of Movistar+’s 2020 series line-up and Beta’s in-production slate for this year’s market in Cannes. Beta’s Swedish thriller series Agent Hamilton (Dramacorp Pampas/TV4/CMore/Beta/ZDF) has just left the editing room and is about to celebrate its red carpet world premiere in the prestigious Grand Auditorium at Cannes’ Palais des Festivals on MIP Sunday, Oct 13th, 6.30 pm. The Canadian crime series The Wall – Cover Your Tracks (Pixcom) will be presented at an International Screening on Monday, Oct 14th, 9 am, Audi K.

New seasons are announced for proven audience favourites like the Tom Tykwer/Henk Handloegten/Achim von Borries roaring 20’s drama Babylon Berlin (28 hours, X Filme/ARD Degeto/WDR/Sky/Beta), the epic Renaissance series Medici: The Magnificent (Lux Vide/Rai/Big Light/Altice), created by Frank Spotnitz, and the Italian crime series Rocco Schiavone (28 hours, RAI/Cross/Beta). 1994 (8 hours, Wildside/Sky Italia) is the grand finale of the series trilogy (26 hours in total) retelling Italy’s tumultuous recent history circling around the rise of Silvio Berlusconi. The North American crime procedural Hudson & Rex (Shaftesbury/Pope/Beta/Rogers Media/Citytv), inspired by one of Europe’s most successful franchise ever, is currently producing its second season with 32 episodes in total.

After breaking ratings records upon its broadcast, Maria Theresa – A Woman at War (8 hours, Maya/MR/Beta for Czech TV/ORF/RTVS/MTVA) once again takes the reign with a second season. Alex Pina’s Spanish hit series The Pier (16 hours, Movistar+/Atresmedia/Vancouver), which celebrated a splendid premiere last fall at MIP with its star, Money Heist-lead Alvaro Morte, returns with eight new episodes. The Velvet Collection (20 hours, Movistar+/Bambú) – the spin-off of the long-running Spanish hit series Velvet – closes the doors of the Grand Magasin, exploring new storylines in this reunion of all of the show’s protagonists.
