Beta Film’s “Babylon Berlin” and “The Vanishing” win big at German Television Awards
Munich, 29 January. The Roaring Twenties drama series Babylon Berlin has won big at the German Television Awards and was honored as “Best Drama Series” as well as winning “Best Music,” “Best Cinematography” and “Best Production and/or Costume Design.” The series by X Filme, ARD Degeto, Sky and Beta Film, which has been sold to over 60 territories worldwide, is directed by Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries and Henk Handloegten and leading the list of competitors with eight nominations.
Beta Film’s success continues with the drama series The Vanishing (23/5 Filmproduktion), which won two of the most important awards with “Best Script” for writer/director Hans-Christian Schmid and Bernd Lange and “Best Actress” (Julia Jentsch). The gripping drama, which centers on a missing girl in a small border town, was also nominated as “Best Drama Series.” Seapoint’s Let’s Dance was honored with the Entertainment Award “Best Live Directing” (Mark Achterberg).
