Spain in love with 'Tell me Who I Am'
The Spanish drama series Tell Me Who I Am has celebrated a sweeping success on Movistar+ during the Christmas season. The high-end production finished as #1 series on the platform, leaving behind all other shows, original and foreign, as well as movies by a wide margin. Movistar+ was able to increase its user numbers by 17% during the 2020 winter break.
The show (9x1h), based on the globally bestselling novel by Julia Navarro, follows mysterious revolutionary Amalia Garayoa (Irene Escolar) on her journey through the tumultuous twentieth century, from the Spanish Civil War to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Married to a man she does not love, leaving her child behind and following the love of her life in the midst of WWII to chase her dreams, Amalia lives through momentous historical events.
Tell Me Who I Am is a production of Movistar+ and Telemundo International Studios in collaboration with DLO Productions, Beta Film handles world sales. It is created by José Manuel Lorenzo and directed by Eduard Cortés, starring Goya-winning Irene Escolar and Italian star-actress Maria Pia Calzone (Gomorrah). The drama series has traveled throughout Europe as well as to Latin America and the US. Further deals are in final negotiations.
