Dreamtool Expands to Theatrical, Cologne

Jan 15 2015

Munich, January 15, 2015. Munich-based production house Dreamtool Entertainment is opening a new office in Cologne/Germany under new General Manager Jürgen Schuster.  Along with Dreamtool founders Stefan Raiser und Felix Zackor, Schuster will focus on producing high-value theatrical films in addition to TV productions. Among the upcoming projects is the adaptation of the award-winning YA novel series "Short Pants Gang" by bestselling author Zoran Drvenkar.  Dreamtool has also secured the rights to Tanya Stewner's children's book series "Liliane Susewind", which has sold millions of copies. Raiser and Zackor had already hired veteran German theatrical producer Maike Haas in May of 2014 to advance the theatrical venture.

Dreamtool belongs to Jan Mojto’s company group, whose Beta Film has acquired a majority share in the production shingle.

Jürgen Schuster comments: "In many conversations with Stefan Raiser and Felix Zackor, I sensed their enormous creative energy and shared vision regarding the future direction of Dreamtool Entertainment. I look forward to making those visions a reality."

Stefan Raiser: "Jürgen's enthusiasm and know-how are overwhelming – the perfect basis for taking the next step forward with the company." And Felix Zackor notes that "North Rhine-Westfalia has always been a very important partner for us, and now we have found the best man for our expansion plans there."

Beta Film CEO Jan Mojto: "In the person of Jürgen Schuster, the creative and innovative team led by Stefan Raiser and Felix Zackor will receive the added support of a very experienced industry player and producer. This puts the company in an excellent position to produce high production value and internationally competitive productions out of Germany."

Jürgen Schuster, who will also be a partner in Dreamtool, was a producer and general manager at teamWorx and UFA Cinema for many years, then at Zeitsprung Pictures in Cologne in the same capacity. He also serves as adviser to Beta Film. Working together with top German producer Nico Hofmann, he handled tentpole TV events like "Generation War", "Mogadishu", "March of Millions", "Hindenburg" and "Laconia", as well as theatrical productions like "Hanni&Nanni", "Devil Kickers" and "Shores of Hope".

About Dreamtool:

Since it was founded in 2001, the Munich production co. has made a name for itself with big-budget, blockbuster TV movies and miniseries. Their very first film, multigenerational family comedy "Prince Charming" won two German TV Awards and the Bavarian TV Award. They went on to produce headline events like "The Charlemagne Code",  "Heroes", "Bermuda Triangle North Sea" or "The Hunt for the Amber Room". But they also turned out smaller, more personal dramas like "Shadow Kids", "Neither Fish Nor Fowl" or, most recently,  Arthouse theatrical release "Sisters". Dreamtool belongs to the company group run by Jan Mojto.
