Hotel EuropaBased on true events which shaped Germany between the wars. The untold story of a generation. The chronicles of a hotel frequented by Charlie Chaplin, Konrad Adenauer, and Adolf Hitler.
Emil Dreesen, son of a hotelier dynasty at the River Rhine, returns from the war in 1918. From now on, Emil wants to counter his traumatic past with openness, joie de vivre, curiosity and tolerance. But the crisis is far from over: His parents' posh hotel is occupied by the French. Emil's personal guilt of having shot a superior at the front line, albeit in self-defense, becomes a growing existential threat. As tensions rise, Emil enters into a long-running feud with his father over the future of the Hotel Dreesen, popular meeting place for Jewish families. Modern age and a new beginning or old enemies and revenge? When Emil's father invites Adolf Hitler to be his prominent guest, the conflict is woven into something much larger, threatening to tear apart the celebrity guests as well as the family – and even the whole country. In the end, Emil has to decide which side he is on...
