La Zona

The barely regained order of a city 3 years after a nuclear catastrophe is turned inside out when a mutilated body is found.

The disastrous meltdown of a nuclear power plant in Northern Spain created a contaminated no-go zone and left the nearby provincial city and inhabitants in a state of shock and mourning. One of the victims is police inspector Hector Uria's 20 year-old son Fede. While the city prepares to feed the media with good news for the commemoration ceremony, the report of a mutilated body found in a warehouse proves almost as contagious as the radioactive fallout itself, especially when more mysterious killings occur. Hector's search for the murderer takes him deep into the no-go zone, where he uncovers a smuggling racket controlled by the decontamination company with ties to the political authorities. It is also a journey into his own past as the sole survivor of those who went in to save others three years ago – a journey undertaken also by his doctor and public health official Julia, his wife Marta and his daughter Ester, each having to confront their very own inner demons on the way.
