Royal Highness

"a tender, subtle film" (Variety)

Samuel Spoelman, an American millionaire of German origins, arrives in the Grand Duchy of Grimmburg. He is accompanied by his daughter Imma. They are there to take the waters. The self-assured young American girl, who bears with her none of the burdens of tradition or class-consciousness, meets Klaus Heinrich, the brother of the grand duke. Klaus has been raised according to best Prussian maxims and his acutely conscious oh who he is. At first, the two young persons do not get along very well, but the prince is able to overcome his prejudices, and Imma's initial ironic mockery of him is gradually transformed into a tender attachment. In the end, she is ennobled, so as to make it possible for Klaus Heinrich to marry her.
