The Bible: Jacob

A tale of deceit and rivalry, of passion and love, “Jacob” was directed by noted film and theater director Sir Peter Hall.
Jacob, the younger of the two, buys Esau's birthright from him and tricks his father Isaac into giving him the blessing intended for Esau, the first-born. This makes Jacob the rightful heir of Abraham and Isaac.
When Esau threatens to kill him, Jacob flees to his uncle Laban, who proves to be a master of deceit himself. Realizing that Jacob has fallen in love with Rachel, his youngest daughter, Laban forces Jacob to work for him 14 years before finally allowing him to marry Rachel. Esau eventually sets out to find his brother.
When he finally comes face to face with him, however, he forgets his enmity and embraces Jacob, who has obtained the confirmation of his right to the blessing in a struggle with the angel.
In the lead roles are Matthew Modine as Jacob and Sean Bean as his twin brother Esau. Their parents Isaac and Rebekah are played by Joss Ackland and Irene Papas. “Jacob” was filmed in Quarzazate, Morocco, between April and May 1994.
