The Bible: Jeremiah

“Jeremiah” tells of the prophet who abandons his family, and also the woman he loves, in order to relay God's message in Jerusalem.
When Jeremiah prophesies the fall of the Jewish folk and the destruction of the Holy City, King Zedekiah has him imprisoned. Even when the Babylonians surround the city the king refuses to believe him. Jeremiah's prophecy comes true: Jerusalem is destroyed and the inhabitants are taken as prisoners to Babylon.
When Jeremiah is released he prophesies that the temple of Jerusalem will be rebuilt, also in the people's hearts.
Featuring Patrick Dempsey in the title role, “Jeremiah” was directed by Harry Winer. The screenplay was co-written by Harry Winer and Roger Young. Filming on “Jeremiah” began in Morocco in March 1998 and was completed in the middle of April 1998.
