The Bible: Samson and Delilah

“Samson and Delilah” is the story of a man who follows his instincts instead of his calling, but is ultimately redeemed by his suffering and accomplishes the mission God assigned him.
As a boy, Samson is repeatedly told by his parents that he is destined to free his people from their oppressors. Indeed, his extraordinary strength sets him apart as a natural-born leader. But as he grows older, his attraction to women distracts him from his mission, for which he sees no God-given signs.
Aware of Samson's position of leadership among his defiant people, his enemies know they must eliminate him to prevent a rebellion. The ravishing Delilah is enlisted to seduce him and uncover the secret of his power. After a week of love, Samson confesses that his strength resides in his hair. Delilah is finally able to betray her lover.
Directed by Nicolas Roeg, “Samson and Delilah” stars Dennis Hopper as General Tariq, head of the Philistine army. Elizabeth Hurley stars as Delilah and Eric Thal stars as Samson.
