What the Future HoldsA poor but ambitious and talented nobody arrives in bustling, late 60s Barcelona to save his mother and win the heart of a young woman.
Justo Gil arrives with his ailing mother in the razzle and dazzle of a late 60s Barcelona, seeking to save his mother's life by striking it big. His persistence, ambition and trustworthiness take Justo all the way into the ranks of the city's dolce vita and into the heart of charming, pragmatic Carmé. But when Justo loses Carmé's uncle's investment in him in an ill-fated last effort to save his mother's life, the betrayal costs him even more than Carmé's love. Struggling to win her back but soon caught in a police raid and recognized as the swindler he is, Justo resorts to the last means to save his skin: becoming an informant of the torturous secret police spying on the new leftist resistance on the eve of Franco's dictatorship of the dawning 1970s. In the clutches of an increasingly merciless secret service, Justo can now only save his life by sacrificing others. Cornered and crushed, Justo nevertheless sees a last chance to redeem himself towards Carmé - the woman with whom he had dreamt the impossible.
