‘Other People’s Money’ continues sweeping awards in Germany and Austria
World premiered at this year’s Berlinale, Other People’s Money by showrunner/creator Jan Schomburg (I’m Your Man; Above Us Only Sky) is inspired by the “CumEx-Files” investigation by European news media outlets that uncovered a global finance network which defrauded European state treasuries of almost 150 billion Euros. The eight-hour series follows the culprits as well as two women from two different countries trying to put a stop to the fraud – but states and banks seem to prevent their efforts at all costs.
“One can only marvel at their protagonists," reports Germany’s Die Zeit, while many other international media praised the series as “perfectly formed, eight-part masterpiece” (Der Spiegel), "highly sophisticated" (Cineuropa), with “captivating dialog, contradictory characters and pointed scenes,” while the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung summarizes: “pace, atmosphere, clarity: (…) Other People’s Money shines.”
This year, the series already won the Hessian TV Award and was nominated at the German TV Awards and the Seoul Drama Awards.
The series is directed by Dustin Loose (Divided We Stand) and Kaspar Munk (The Rain, Kamikaze). The screenplay was written by Jan Schomburg (I’m Your Man, Above Us Only Sky). The research was conducted by investigative journalists Oliver Schröm, Christian Salewski, Niels Fastrup, and Thomas G. Svaneborg.

Svaneborg, Other People’s Money is produced X Filme Creative Pool and True Content Entertainment in co-production with EPO- Film, ZDF and DR in co-production with New8 (with NRK, SVT, RUV, YLE, NPO, and VRT).
