“Empress of the Hearts” returns: 'Sissi' is back for another holiday season
Romy Schneider is back: This holiday season, Beta’s classic movie trilogy Sissi will once again warm hearts all over Europe. The reign of the beloved Empress of Austria has already started her magical spin in Spain, where La 1’s special afternoon cinematic slot embraced the iconic trilogy, achieving over 3.4 million viewers and a market share of up to 13%. The seasonal wave continues to build across Europe, with France and Germany leading the pack with many more countries in the tow.
While France’ TF1 Series Films will start hosting Romy Schneider and her Emperor Franz (Karl-Heinz Böhm) on December 8 in prime time, RTL will wait until Christmas Day. The broadcaster will show all three classic films starring Romy Schneider as Empress Elisabeth back-to-back on Christmas Eve and on the digital platform RTL+.
Sisi’s true fans can also watch Beta’s latest installment Sisi (24 hours), featuring Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann as Elisabeth and Franz, sold to 120 countries worldwide. And if you still can’t get enough, International Emmy awarded “The Empress”, produced by Beta subsidiary Sommerhaus, can be watched on Netflix worldwide.
