SERIESMAKERS Unveils Chachachá! as This Year’s Winner
The eight-part dramedy Chachachá! centers on a Gen X woman whose sky-high blood pressure forces her to confront how out of touch with herself she has become. When she turns to Latin dancing, not for fun but for survival, it ignites total chaos in her family.
Ferdinand Dohna, Head of Content & Co-Production at Beta, said: "This year, the ten selected projects were remarkably strong and truly unique. Chachachá won us over with its light‑hearted, authentic, and sincere tone. It tackles important universal themes of society with humor. We believe this is exactly the kind of story international audiences need right now.”
“SERIESMAKERS is designed to support film directors as they move into series, helping them develop strong projects and engage with the realities of the international market, and we are delighted that Chachachá! is our winner this year. SERIESMAKERS embodies Series Mania Institute’s core mission: supporting creators, structuring their professional paths, and fostering meaningful connections with the industry,” commented Marianne Guillon, Director of Series Mania Institute.
The creative initiative SERIESMAKERS is headed by Marianne Guillon, Director of Series Mania Institute, and Ferdinand Dohna, Head of Content & Co-Production at Beta.
Initiated as part of Series Mania Forum in 2022 by Laurence Herszberg, General Director of Series Mania, and Koby Gal Raday, CEO Janeiro Studios, SERIESMAKERS is now fully integrated into the support programs of Series Mania Institute. This online workshop is designed for director-producer or director-writer teams with a background in feature films who are looking to move into the world of series.
