Mark Gatiss’ Hit Series Bookish Unwraps Christmas Special and Third Season
Meanwhile, the second season of Bookish, starring Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Doctor Who) alongside Polly Walker (Bridgerton), and Connor Finch, will be released on its home turf on Wednesday, August 28, on U&alibi, and the production of the third season is already scheduled for later this year, with the airing set for 2027. The Christmas special, titled Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, will be bringing viewers a seasonal mystery packed with festive charm and surprises and is set to air this December.
Beta Film has already sold Bookish to over 100 territories, including to Canada (Radio-Canada), Australia (HBO Max), Italy (RAI), and Latin America (AMC Networks). The first season of Bookish delivered an impressive launch last year on U&alibi, averaging 1.5 million viewers, making it the channel’s second-highest-performing premiere ever. Bookish furthermore received widespread critical acclaim, hailed as “a knotty, stylish and witty period piece” (The Sydney Morning Herald), “a tasty nugget of absolute delight” (The Guardian), and “a rich, top-notch show” (Daily Mail).
The series is produced by Eagle Eye Drama, part of ITV Studios, in association with Happy Duck Films, and is supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter.
Beta Film is handling the world sales, with PBS Distribution holding North American rights.
