Munich/Seoul, 25 August 2026. Four Beta Film programs have received seven nominations at the prestigious Seoul Drama Awards. Leading the list is the Norwegian festival darling A Better Man with four nominations: Best Miniseries, Best Director for Thomas Seeberg Torjussen and Gjyljeta Berisha, Best Screenwriter for series creator Thomas Seeberg Torjussen, as well as Best Actor for the lead Anders Baasmo. The second season of Empire Oktoberfest is likewise nominated for Best Miniseries, joined by Mozart Mozart in the same category. The list is completed by The Great Chimera, which is nominated for Best Director for Vardis Marinakis.

 

Praised by international media for “its large relevance” (Variety), A Better Man (4x1h) tells the story of Tom, who works in his mother’s clothing store but spends his nights trolling the internet. At Canneseries last year, it won Best Series as well as Best Performance for lead actor Anders Baasmo (Kon-Tiki). Created and directed by Thomas Seeberg Torjussen, the limited series is produced by Maipo Film in collaboration with ARTBOX for NRK, in co-production with ZDFneo. Beta Film handles international sales.

 

Empire Oktoberfest (2 seasons, 10x1h) is the epic saga of two rival brewing families who battle for dominance and survival around the iconic Oktoberfest at the turn of the century. The series has been honored with Best Series at the Munich Film Festival this year and is produced by Beta Group’s Zeitsprung Pictures and Violet Pictures, co-produced with BR, ARD Degeto Film, and MDR; in cooperation with Velvet Films, supported by FFF Bayern, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Wallimage, and Tax Shelter Belgium. Beta handles international sales.

 

From the producers of the international hit series Sisi, Mozart Mozart (6x1h) is a tale of ambition and deception giving voice to Mozart’s overlooked sister Maria Anna Mozart. The series spotlights the story of their complex sibling bond, full of love, rivalry, and rebellion and is produced by Story House Pictures in co-production with ARD (WDR/SWR/ARD Degeto Film), ORF, and Dreaming Sheep Company. Beta Film and Bavaria Media are handling international sales.

 

A visually stunning yet tragic journey of love, yearning, and death, based on the iconic bestselling Greek novel by M. Karagatsis, published in 1953, The Great Chimera (6x1h) is produced by Foss Production, in co-production with Beta Film. It broke viewing records upon its premiere on ERT’s streamer ERTFLIX with the first two episodes reaching one million views within one week, while it also becoming a trending topic on social media. Beta Film handles international sales for the series.

 

Celebrating outstanding achievements in television drama worldwide, the Seoul International Drama Award ceremony will take place on October 8 in Seoul.
