"Makari – Sicilian Mysteries" wins prime time on RAI 1

Back for a second season, Makari – Sicilian Mysteries (7 x two hours) succeeded as prime time winner on Italy’s RAI 1, even surpassing the audience hit “My brilliant friend” every week. Since its premiere in early February, the crime series continued the success story of season 1 and had a viewership with up to 5.4 million viewers and a market share of 25.4%.
Praised as “The other ‘Montalbano’” by Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Makari combines mystery, comedy, and melodrama into a hit-series that is based on the bestselling books by Gaetano Savatteri.
The series cirlces around Saverio Lamanna, who, after he is fired, returns to his roots in Sicily to become a writer. Soon, he gets involved in local mysteries, a detective with a pen: Sniffing out criminals, making friends and finding love.
The show is produced by Palomar in collaboration with RAI Fiction. Beta Film is handling world sales.
