The television crime series The Island of Thirty Coffins has celebrated a sweeping success on France’s linear broadcaster France 2 as the prime time winner of the night for two weeks in a row. Led by ‘The Beach’ and ‘8 Femmes’ star Virginie Ledoyen, the thriller series built upon a strong premiere of the first two episodes, with 4.5 million viewers consolidated and an excellent market share of 18%, captivating 3.3 million viewers with an again superb market share of 17% for episodes three and four.  

The last two episodes also aired as a success with 3.16 Mio viewers and 15.3% Market Share, which was also far ahead the competitors.

‘The Island of 30 Coffins’ is based on the famous, eponymous novel by Maurice Leblanc, also known for his narratives on the adventures of Arsene Lupin which served as source for the French hit series ‘Lupin’.

Created by Elsa Marpeau (Capitaine Marleau) and Florent Meyer (Lupin), The Island of Thirty Coffins is directed by Frederic Mermoud (The Returned); next to Virginie Ledoyen star Charles Berling (Marie Curie, Capitaine Marleau) and Stanley Weber (Borgia, Paula).

The series follows Christine, who lost her son at birth fifteen years ago. Or so she thought, until she receives a video which could prove that he is not dead. She returns to the island of her childhood in Brittany to get to the truth in this investigation full of mysteries.

The six-hour series is produced by Thalie Images for France 2. Shooting has been wrapped with sets on the Island of Ouessant in Western France, Paris and all over Brittany.
