Munich, 12 October 2022. Ahead of MIPJunior, Beta has acquired international distribution rights to Rumors and Saving the Fucking Planet, while Norway’s record breaker Rod Knock travels to CH Media in Switzerland, among others. Further negotiations with European key partners are ongoing.

For the first time ever, Beta presents its Kids & Family showcase at this year’s MIPJunior (Saturday, Oct. 15, 10.45am at JW Marriott Grand Théâtre), introducing a wide array of kids and young adult shows from animations such as Journey to Yourland to live action such as Camp Newton.

Headlining Beta’s Kids&Family line-up is Rumors (30x12’), which has already been making waves in Norway with the first few episodes reaching the Top 3 on pubcaster NRK TV. Following the footsteps of the global phenomenon Skam, the series produced by Mothership Entertainment is about friends, bullies, and big emotions among a group of Norwegian 10th graders.

The YA drama Saving the Fucking Planet (6x35’) by Fenomen for NRK circles around two young, star-crossed lovers on the opposite side of an issue: the climate crisis. The producer Knut Inge Solbu states: “Like Rod Knock, Saving the Fucking Planet enthralls through its authenticity, which is one of the factors that makes the series highly appealing for an international audience.”

The fantastic adventure of Journey to Yourland (1x85’) starts when a mysterious shining stone calls for help and Riki embarks on a mission to save a fantastic universe from certain doom – and proves that a good heart goes a long way. The animated feature is produced by BFILM in co-production with plutoon, The Pack, BFILM.cz and RTVS Slovakia.

Camp Newton (12x25’) takes kids on a wild adventure: when Sara and her friends find stranded alien Hoshi at summer camp, they are eager to help him getting his UFO back into the air. The series is produced by Álamo Audiovisual in co-production with secuoya ficción and Dopamine SL.

The multi-award-winning YA drama Rod Knock (24x30’) is one of the most successful Norwegian dramas ever with one in five people in the country having watched the show. Produced by Fenomen and Storyline Studios for NRK, the series is about a tight-knit group of young gearheads hitting the roadblocks that can come with young adulthood: heartache, uncertainty, and loss. Yet, it is possible to overcome anything with people you trust…
