One-stop shop for high-end content: Beta unveils MIPCOM line-up with over 20 new dramas and seasons from 15 countries

Emerging from booming fiction production hub Bosnia is Beta’s new pick-up, the thriller series The Hollow (5x1h, SCCA/pro.ba) by acclaimed director Danis Tanovic, known for his Oscar®-winning No Man's Land. Venice Film Festival entry I Know Your Soul (6x1h, Deblokada/BH Telecom) by Oscar®-nominated director Jasmila Žbanić (Quo Vadis, Aida?), who reunites with European Film Award winner Jasna Djuricic, also originates from Bosnia.
The Ukrainian drama In Her Car (10x30’, Starlight Media/Gaumont/France TV/ZDF), which is shot in the war-torn country and takes the viewer into the heart of the ongoing crisis, will celebrate its market premiere on Monday, October 16, 11am at Audi A.
The English-language surveillance drama Concordia (6x1h, Intaglio/ZDF/France TV/Hulu Japan/MBC), directed by Barbara Eder (The Swarm, Barbarians), will celebrate its World Premiere on Tuesday, October 17, in Cannes. The premiere is followed by a Q&A with multiple Primetime Emmy® Award winner, Showrunner, and Executive Producer Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones, The Swarm, John Adams, Rome) and cast members including International Emmy® Award winner Christiane Paul (Counterpart, In July) and Ruth Bradley (Ted Lasso, Humans).
The dark psychological drama The Couple Next Door (6x1h, Eagle Eye Drama/Beta/Channel4/STARZ/LIONSGATE+) delves into the repercussions of pursuing one's darkest desires. Sam Heughan and Eleanor Tomlinson partner with Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter, How to Get Away With Murder) and Jessica De Gouw (The Secret She Keeps).
Berlinale, Venice, and Cannes winner Jasmine Trinca (The Gunman, Saint Laurent) heads Elsa Morante's La Storia (8x1h, Picomedia/Thalie Images/Rai Fiction/Beta Film) by Francesca Archibugi (Romanzo Familiare). The drama is set in war and post-war torn Rome and will celebrate its World Premiere at the Rome Film Festival on Oct 20.
The Scandinavian-German co-production Estonia (8x1h, Fisher King/Panache Productions & La Compagnie Cinematographique/Amrion Production /Kärnfilm/Beta Film/MTV/TV4) is based on the tragic sinking of the ferry MS Estonia, one of the most devastating maritime disasters in European history. The series is not only showing the scale of this unsolved tragedy, it also finally sheds a light on what really happened.
Beta’s highlights also include a collection of ongoing, internationally acclaimed hit series, including period drama Sisi (18x1h, STORY HOUSE Pictures/RTL/Beta Film) and the new season of the high-end primetime crime series Professor T (18x1h, Eagle Eye/ITV/PBS).
Several Beta series have received nominations for this year's TBI Content Innovation Award. Notably, The Swarm (8x1h, Intaglio Films/ndF IP) is nominated in the category “Best New Scripted Series”. The beloved Canadian canine cop procedural Hudson & Rex (100x1h, Shaftesbury/Pope Productions/Beta Film/Rogers Sports & Media/Citytv) has earned nominations in the categories “The Representation & Inclusion Award – Scripted” and “Best Returning Scripted Series”, alongside Beta’s YA sensation The Sea Beyond (48x1h, PICOMEDIA/Rai Fiction). The moving musical series Three (20x25min, Ananey Studios) is shortlisted in the category “Best Live Action Kids Drama”. The thought-provoking Spanish dramedy Simple (5x30’, Movistar Plus+/Destrucción y Salvación) garnered a nomination at the MIPCOM Diversify TV Awards, celebrating international programming promoting diversity and inclusion.
