The Swarm, Babylon Berlin, Tage, die es nicht gab: 2023 had been a year of outstanding numbers for Beta Group productions on international streaming services. 2024 continues with exceptional linear ratings for Elsa Morante’s La Storia on Rai1, winning the primetime on Rai1 by a landslide with 4.5 million viewers and a market share of 24%.

Frank Doelger’s eco-thriller The Swarm (Intaglio Films & ndF International Productions) continued to grow its international fanbase throughout 2023 with very successful runs on various platforms worldwide. The gripping eight-hour series achieved remarkable success on the US network THE CW, reaching three million unique viewers within the first weeks. Previously, The Swarm achieved phenomenal ratings across Europe and was prime-time winner in several territories. In Germany, the series dominated ZDF’s digital library from the start, quickly amassing over ten million views.

With a total of 21 million streaming views, the fourth season of the international sensation Babylon Berlin (X Filme Creative Pool) claims the top spot as the most-watched fiction show on the streaming service of Germany’s leading pubcaster ARD. The MR FILM drama Tage, die es nicht gab secured the second position with over 13 million online views. The series was praised by German-speaking media as a “finely woven drama with optimally dosed tension, quirky humor, and cleverly interwoven relationships' with Austrian wit and charm" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and "thoughtfully designed and superbly cast” (Frankfurter Rundschau).

NEUESUPER’s Pumuckl's New Adventures, based on the German cult classic “Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl”, enjoyed a successful streaming launch on RTL+, as well as a significant success at the German box office and on linear TV.

Adding to Beta Group’s list of triumphs is the dark and compelling drama series The Couple Next Door (Eagle Eye), hailed as Channel 4's most successful scripted streaming launch to date. The first episode alone achieved a record-breaking one million streams within the first seven days post launch.

The multi-awarded phenomenon The Sea Beyond (Picomedia) achieved remarkable viewing records on Rai's streaming service RaiPlay, accumulating over 220 million total views and consistently ranking in the Netflix Top 10 for more than 30 weeks in Italy.
