Beta’s Kids & Family picks up YA series ‘Stable-ish’ ahead of its world premiere

Further world premieres out of the current Beta lineup include the Series Mania Buyers Upfront entry Shadow Leaks, produced by Beta’s subsidiary Dreamtool Entertainment. This bold adaptation of a bestselling YA thriller novel will likewise celebrate its world premiere in the section New German TV Productions alongside the new episodes of the epic period saga Empire Oktoberfest. Pumuckl's New Adventures season 2 will premiere in the CineKindl Competition.
Additionally, Beta’s subsidiary Zeitsprung Pictures will celebrate two world premieres in the section New German TV Productions: A Better World and Euphorie. The German remake is based on the original format Euphoria by the Israeli cable channel HOT, created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, and produced in the original version by Tedy Production Ltd. for HOT, format distribution ADD Content Ltd.
Stable-ish (6x30’) tells the story of 16-year-old Greta, who is haunted by a tragic accident that claimed her sister’s life — an accident she believes was her fault. Wracked with guilt and unable to cope, she ends up in a psychiatric ward, feeling utterly alone. But she’s not. Under the care of Dr. Kim and her dedicated team, the teens begin a difficult but hopeful journey towards healing. Together, they cry, clash, laugh, and sometimes lash out. In the end though, there might be a way for them to just feel a little more … stable-ish.
The series is directed by head-writer Teresa Fritzi Hoerl (Nothing More Perfect) and Sinje Köhler, the scripts are written with Sarah Claire Wray (Black Fruit), Mareike Almedom (Druck), and Berthold Wahjudi (Summer Hit). Shadow Leaks (6x1h) is based on the best-selling YA -thriller novel by German influencer Jonas Ems and tells the story of a mysterious website that starts leaking everyone’s most intimate secrets. But what does it all have to do with a recent student’s death? The series is directed by Özgür Yildirim (4Blocks, Para – We Are King) and Alison Kuhn (Druck), Hanna Hribar wrote the scripts in collaboration with Jonas Ems; together, they created the series. Shadow Leaks is produced by Beta’s subsidiary Dreamtool Entertainment for ARD Degeto Film, funk, and Hessischer Rundfunk, with funding from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg; Beta handles international sales.
Empire Oktoberfest (10x1h), produced by Beta’s subsidiary Zeitsprung Pictures and Violet Pictures, is the epic saga of two rival brewing families who battle for dominance and survival around the iconic Oktoberfest at the turn of the century. And the conflicts between the rivals explode once more at the Oktoberfest 1905. The series stars some of Germany’s most talented actors, including Martina Gedeck (The Lives of the Others) and Mišel Matičević (Babylon Berlin), with Stephan Lacant (Sleeping Dogs) directing the latest four episodes. The series is produced by Zeitsprung Pictures and Violet Pictures, co-produced with BR, ARD Degeto Film, and MDR; in cooperation with Velvet Films, supported by FFF Bayern, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Wallimage, and Tax Shelter Belgium; Beta handles international sales.
Pumuckl's New Adventures (26x25’) is produced by Beta’s subsidiary NEUESUPER for RTL and is sold internationally by Beta. Season one of this reimagined German classic was already praised numerous times by the German press. Stern celebrated the modern adaptation of the kobold Pumuckl as “a small masterpiece, perfectly realized and unmistakably himself.” The series is directed by Marcus H. Rosenmüller (Grave Decisions).
