Beta Film and Deutsche Telekom launch strategic partnership
Munich, 28 January 2019. Beta Film and Deutsche Telekom are launching a strategic partnership to boost European series on Telekom’s Magenta TV. The long-term agreement will allow the platform to draw from Beta’s catalogue of high-end European programming. First shows include the Italian series Il Cacciatore – The Hunter, the Eastern European Wasteland and the Spanish Fariña – Cocaine Coast.
Beta Film’s Managing Director Moritz von Kruedener: “Deutsche Telekom has realized European high-end series to be an essential part of a successful platform strategy. Often, these programs connect more with the viewer than American series do, in a sense that they hit closer to home. Beta is an important player in the development, production and distribution of European series. It makes a lot of sense to establish this partnership and support Telekom in their European strategy.”
Il Cacciatore - The Hunter follows an Italian prosecutor taking on organized crime gangs in 1990s Italy. The show by Cross Productions and Beta Film scored record ratings on Italy’s RAI, won the Canneseries Award for its actor Francesco Montanari and was honored by the trade magazine Variety as one of the best international shows. HBO’s drama series Wasteland (by Nutprodukce), one of the first high-end Eastern European series ever produced, is an intense psychological drama and riveting mystery set in the rust belt at the Czech/Polish border. The awarded Spanish crime series Fariña – Cocaine Coast, acritically acclaimed Atresmedia Original by bambu, is based on true events. The series is circling around drug trafficking and money laundering on the Northern Spanish coast and runs internationally on Netflix.
