Beta Film closes a row of deals with NENT’s Viaplay
The Nordic region's leading entertainment provider Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has taken a range of Beta Film series, including La Unidad, Babylon Berlin and Gomorrah, to launch on its Viaplay streaming service, starting today.
Viaplay premieres the high-budget drama series La Unidad (Movistar+/Vaca Films/ Beta Film) in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Made by an award-winning creative team, the action-laden anti-terrorist thriller stands out with its very international setting: The story is set against the backdrop of the North-African Spanish enclave of Melilla as well as Morocco, France, Nigeria, and mainland Spain.
Babylon Berlin (season 1-3, X-Filme/ARD Degeto/WDR/Sky/Beta Film), the epitome of high-end drama made in Europe, as well as the award-winning Italian crime drama Gomorrah (season 1-4, Sky/Cattleya/Fandango/Beta Film) will be available on the SVOD service. Both series received international acclaim and numerous awards from all over the world.
NENT Group is stepping up its investment in international content with forthcoming projects such as the high-end drama series The Swarm, based on Frank Schätzing's international bestseller, produced by Intaglio Films, the joint-venture of Beta Film and ZDF Enterprises. The series is currently in development.
Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: "Many borders are closed at the moment, but the horizons of viewers have never been more open. Streaming takes down barriers and audiences today see just how many great stories the world has to offer. The appetite for high-quality international series is unprecedented, and as a Nordic pioneer in compelling storytelling, Viaplay is a natural home for some of the best new and recent shows from around the world."
