“The Same Sky” captures five million viewers and wins German prime time

Munich, 30 March 2017. After its successful world premiere at Berlinale 2017, the episodes of the high-end drama series The Same Sky (6 hours) have secured extraordinary ratings and won primetime on German public broadcaster ZDF. The Same Sky reached almost five million viewers with a market share of up to 15 percent against such prestigious shows as RTL’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. Created by renowned British scriptwriter Paula Milne (“Die Kinder”) and Academy Award-nominated director Oliver Hirschbiegel (“Downfall”, “13 minutes”) the series portrays a multi-layered family drama set in 1970´s divided Berlin.

The show is available on French streaming platform SFR, the Spanish broadcaster Moviestar+ will start airing tonight. Beta Film has sold the rights to more than 100 territories, among them the European broadcasters Rai (Italy), France 3 (France), Belgium’s VRT, SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland) as well as RUV (Iceland). Netflix will stream the Cold War story in the USA and the UK.
