Belgian crime series “Professor T.” gets its next remake in Germany
Munich, 6 October 2016. The eccentric police psychologist Professor T. investigates in the next European major territory: After finishing filming of the French remake for broadcaster TF1, shooting has started for the German version produced by Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion for ZDF. Beta Film, which handles the world sales for the original Belgian version, also distributes the international rights of the French and German remakes as well as the format rights.
The first season of the German remake, told in four episodes, centers on police psychologist and university Professor Jasper Thalheim, played by Matthias Matschke (“Grand Budapest Hotel”). Professor T. has a brilliant mind and a few - a few dozen? - Neurological disorders. Cynical and not really able to engage in any social commitment, he has an opinion on everything and loves to defend those whose ideas do not reflect public opinion. Beta Film sales of Professor T. start on Oct 17th at the international trade fair MIPCOM in Cannes/France.
The Flemish original from Skyline (26xone hour), the producers of the international success series “Salamander”, has been honored with the Jury Award as Best International TV series at the renowned La Rochelle TV Festival. Starring again Koen De Bouw (“The Team”), the second season is currently being broadcasted on Belgium’s VRT. The French version (6xone hour), produced by VEMA/Véronique Marchat, stars Zoé Félix ('Welcome to the Land of Shtis') and up-and-coming talent Mathieu Bisson and is currently in post-production.
Beta subsidiary Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion also produced International Emmy Award-winning “Day for a Miracle” by Andreas Prochaska (“Maximilian and Marie de Bourgogne”) and the crime format “Murder by the Lake”, which has constant ratings of about 20% market share in Germany.
