Homicide Hills...it only takes a clever outsider...
She may miss the big-city car chases, the pistol-gripping showdowns and the thrill of nailing a wanted killer, but way down deep, Detective Sophie Haas has gotten used to life in the sticks, and even she will admit that solving little crimes and low-key murders can also have its rewards. Lord knows there are enough, um, “unusual” people living in this rural outpost of civilization to keep Sophie and her team busy: an ornithologist suspected of killing a student who perhaps overly ruffled his feathers; an asthmatic hash courier too insecure to make it big time; a neglected wife who wanted to give her biker husband a scare but killed him instead... While Sophie continues to run the three-man police department with a straightforward lack of diplomacy, her assistants – the well-fed and laid-back Officer Dietmar Schäffer and the perky and ambitious Officer Bärbel Schmied – still can't quite figure out their boss. But that's OK – she can't either.
