After a chance meeting, Rosemarie Nitribitt, a street singer, becomes the mistress of the Tycoon Konrad Hartog. Hartog, one of the leading personalities of the German ‘Economic Miracle' and member of a powerful cartel, promotes Rosemarie's career. She ends up as West Germany's most exclusive callgirl and allows Fribert, a French industrial spy who has helped advance her career, to record her conversations with various clients. Unaware of the ramifications of this eavesdropping deal, Rosemarie keeps vying for acceptance by a society which has already decided to do away with her.
